Like Father, Like Son (9-10)
- Are we more concerned about 3-8 in someone else’s life than 9-10 in ours? Would someone looking at our calendar and checkbook say:
1 Thessalonians 1.3 ...our work of faith and labor of love
John 15.12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
John 15.17 These things I command you, so that you will love one another.
Peace and Quiet (11a)
- But aren't we our brother's keeper? The right data, but the wrong direction. they forgot that God demands faithfulness in the mundane things He calls us to do and we each have plenty to occupy our hearts and minds with without getting the juicy tidbits about or micro-managing the lives of others.
Blue Collar Professional (11b)
- Is manual labor beneath you? If you are educated and white collar, do you see the cashier at Walmart or the guy holding the shovel as less intelligent or motivated than you?
If you do manual labor, skilled or not, do you pridefully react to those who are more educated than you or do a white collar job? Do you withdraw from their friendship because they make more money than you?
If you are a mom raising your children and working in the home, do you think you are wasting your degree or your life and need to do something different (and exciting) in order to be fulfilled?
Is our love for one another conditioned by our job, education, social standing or the fact that we are brothers and sisters?
Good Rep or God's Rep?
- Our reputation should be governed by God’s reputation. Our conduct must commend the Gospel. We must act like the One who has commissioned us.
