The Glory of The Incarnation

John 1:14-18

The incarnation is the ultimate revelation of God for the ultimate need of sinners.

1.In the incarnation, God became man.
  • Jesus is the Word and He was present in the beginning.
  • Jesus is God Himself
  • The Word of God became flesh and dwelt among us.
  • The miracle of the incarnation is the union of God with full human nature.
  • Jesus has experienced everything you have, yet in every way without sin.
  • Because of the Incarnation Jesus understands us fully.
2. In the incarnation, God's glory was revealed.
  • The Glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle in the Old Testament
  • Jesus became the new tabernacle to deliver Israel and then He replaced the tabernacle.
  • God made His tent in human flesh through Jesus.
  • This tells us that God wants to be known by us. God wants to be seen and heard and He makes Himself known through His Son.

3. In the incarnation God's grace was provided.
His greatest glory was seen in His grace and truth.

  • God abounds in steadfast, loyal love to those who don't deserve it.
  • God is fatihful, kind and true to show us His love.
  • Psalm 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
  • Psalm 36:5 our steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.
  • Psalm 57:3 He will send from heaven and save me; he will put to shame him who tramples on me. Selah God will send out his steadfast love and his faithfulness!
  • The grace seen in the Law of Moses was replaced by grace & truth
  • The clearest display of God's glory is seen in the Cross of Christ.
  • If you want to know who God is, you must know Him as the Savior who died for sinners.
