Genesis 12.10 – 13.18
God is faithful to his word and gracious to his people.
1. Abraham blows it (12.10-19)
Their plan
Their dilemma
Their rescue
2. Abraham gets it (13.1-18)
The problem
The solution
The promise
Two stories about the same man: Unbelief that resulted in self-sufficiency and a terrible mess. Faith that resulted in tender love, generosity, and renewed promise.
Like Abraham, Christians do not have to be defined by their past sins and faith failures….even if they have remaining consequences. In Christ we have hope for the future.
3. Some questions to consider for caregroup
How do I connect Abraham's story to my story? What sins and faith failures has God redeemed in my life?
How does this story affect my regrets in life?
How can I use this story to counsel someone living with the consequences of past sin or faith failures?
What does this story have to do with the gospel?
